Exciting Paris Construction Update!
We are thrilled to announce a new chapter in our journey as we welcome Ryan Tookey as the new owner of Paris Construction Company! Ryan has served as the President of Paris Construction Company for several years, and took over as owner November 1, 2024.
Ryan brings with him nearly 20 years of construction experience within various fields of the industry. Over the course of his career, Ryan has obtained extensive knowledge of commercial, residential, and civil construction fields. Ryan is eager to lead the delivery of exceptional results, and to strengthen our relationships with clients, partners, and the community.
Our mission remains the same: Be a fair, trusted, and honest contractor, who people we service can be certain that they will not be taken advantage of. Provide excellence in our offered services, and have the customers best interests in mind at all times.
Here’s a little more about Ryan.
Early Education & Career
Ryan Tookey was born and raised near Edmonton, Alberta. He graduated from Construction Engineering Technology at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2005.
Ryan began his career as a residential estimator for a large home builder in Edmonton. From there he was offered the opportunity to join a damaged property appraisal firm to provide detailed cost analysis for insurance adjusters after properties had sustained insurance loss. He really enjoyed his position, however it was slightly removed from the actual building construction itself. Ryan joined the construction side of damage restoration industry for a couple of years, but then took on a career change into the commercial general contracting industry for a prominent builder named Clark Builders, in the Edmonton branch. Ryan spent nearly 7 years as a Project Coordinator/Project Manager for Clark where he helped build various projects ranging from IT Data Centers to prefabricated industrial buildings.
Taking the Opportunity with Paris Construction
While working at Paris Construction, Ryan married his wife Brooke, who was originally from La Salle, Ontario. After having two beautiful children, Noah (2014) and Elaina (2017), Ryan softened to the idea of moving closer to Brookes family in Ontario. As you may have read from Mike Grands blog post, Mike was originally from Edmonton as well. Mike and Ryan were acquaintances, having spent numerous ski/snowboard trips together. One day, Ryan reached out to Mike jokingly asking, ‘Hey when are you gonna hire me to move out and work with you??!” Mike responded, “Actually, I’m looking for a GM, let me know if you are interested!” From there, Ryan travelled out to Paris to analyze the idea of moving to Ontario, and how that could work with his wife and young family. After some time, Ryan and Brooke decided to take the plunge, risk everything they’d ever known, and pack their bags for Ontario!
Ryan spent 2018 – 2020 as the General Manager of Paris Construction, under the leadership of Mike Grand and partners Steve Adams and Ryan McNeil. In 2020, it was decided that Mike would move back home to Alberta to assist the operations of their company back home. In 2021, Ryan was appointed President of Paris Construction. In the summer of 2024, the partners decided that the best path forward for themselves and Paris Construction would be the sale of the company, to allow more direct hands on ownership; they offered the purchase first to Ryan, who proudly took on the opportunity!
The Future of Paris Construction
Similar to the previous ownerships goal with Paris Construction, Ryan also shares the desire to be more organized and approachable in what can sometimes be an intimating industry. Under our new ownership, we will continue to be upfront, honest, fair, and easy to deal with. We will always strive to provide quality work for fair compensation. We will NOT recommend additional services for the sake of higher project costs. It is our desire to be a fair, trusted, and honest contractor, who people we service can be certain that they will not be taken advantage of. Safety of our staff will continue to be of utmost importance as we move forward as company.
